Stripped women assaulted for non-repayment of loan, K’taka police file charges after 2 days (Ld)
BENGALERU: In a shocking incident, two sisters were stripped naked and assaulted at their residence within the confines of Sarjapur police station on the outskirts of Bangalore. More shockingly, it is alleged that the police refused to press charges for two days. It was only after public outrage that the complaint was filed.
Police on Wednesday arrested defendants Ramakrishna Reddy and Sunil Kumar for the assault.
The incident took place at Doddabommasandra in Anekal taluk. The lawsuit was filed against Ramakrishna Reddy and Sunil Kumar and Indramma. The third accused has not yet been arrested.
According to the complaint, one of the victims had taken out a loan of Rs 1 lakh at exorbitant 30% interest for her children’s education from Ramakrishna Reddy, a resident of Neriga village near Doddabommasandra.
However, he was asked to repay the entire loan at once. The villagers had negotiated an agreement that once they sold their land, the victim would repay the loan amount.
Despite this, the defendants broke into their residence and assaulted and stripped the victims. They had approached Sarjapur police station over the incident. However, it is alleged that Inspector Raghavendra Imbrapur refused to press charges.
The inspector had asked the victims to negotiate with the accused for a settlement. Meanwhile, the assault videos have gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage against police and the defendants.
The cops finally called the victims at the police station and filed a complaint on Tuesday evening.
